Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Akagera National Park
Our driver-guide would be delighted to greet and welcome you at the pickup point for this exciting three-day trip to Rwanda’s only Savannah park.
You’ll be given an overview about life in Rwanda and what you’ll be doing for the next three days, as well as answers to some of your tour-related questions.
After that, travel to Akagera in eastern region of the country.
On a road distinguished by rolling hills, thick foliage cover and more, the drive spans 122 kilometers taking about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
You will first register at the visitor center before traveling to your lodging facility for refreshments and lunch.
In the chilly nights, you’ll go on a 2-3-hour bird-watching excursion with an expert who will describe the many bird species and their habitats.
End the day with dinner and an overnight nap.
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat cruise
You’ll join the park rangers for a rewarding 3-4-hours morning game drive after a delicious sunrise breakfast at the lodge.
During these hours, you can see the scenery, vegetation, and prey and predators in their natural environments. Lions, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, elephants and other animals are among the creatures you might observe.
Though it may be on everyone’s dream list, seeing lions, leopards, and other predators and witnessing a slaughter is entirely by hard luck.
You’ll return to the lodge for lunch and drinks after the game drive, followed by an afternoon boat excursion on Lake Ihema.
The tour offers a chance to enjoy relaxed voyage on calm waters while viewing variety of aquatic dwellers such as hippos, crocodiles and birds. At the lake’s edge, some creatures can be observed feeding.
After dinner, you’ll retire for a snooze at sunset.
Day 3: Departure. Optional city tour
Begin your day with leisurely breakfast before checking out for a trip to Kigali.
You will have a quick Kigali City tour, which will include a visit to the local markets to buy souvenirs and a visit to the genocide memorial grounds to pay tribute to the victims of 1994 Rwanda Genocide, depending on your departure time.
