Nyungwe Forest National Park is located in the east of Rwanda, with lush forest cover, at the border of Lake Kivu – largest lake in the Republic of Rwanda.

You will track chimpanzees under the guidance of expert ranger guides, take a canopy walk, city tour where you will visit genocide memorial site and lots of photography.

Detailed Chimpanzee Trekking Rwanda Package

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Get the trip started by meeting our senior driver-guide, who will brief and verify some of your travel documents.

After briefing, proceed to Nyungwe National Park, with stopover at the Gisozi Genocide Memorial center for some facts about the over 25,000 Hutu and Tutsis who were killed during the 1994 Rwanda Genocide.

From there you will have lunch and then proceed with the drive to the park, with views of the captivating hills and dotted homesteads.

Arrival and check-in at the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

After having a hefty breakfast meal at the lodge, you will drive to meet the rest of the visitors at the Information Centre for a briefing.

There you will find the ranger guides, who will brief you on the trekking dos and don’ts, before guiding you around the forest, where for about 2-5 hours, you will listen to the sound, and encounter some of the park residents.

There are over 13 unique primate species in this haven, notably the Chimpanzees, grey checked monkeys, red-tailed monkeys and more.

Upon finding them, you are given a maximum of an hour for photography and watching chimpanzees feed and laugh.

You will thereafter have lunch break, followed by an afternoon canopy walk, high on the tree suspended canopy, for about one and half hours.

At the top, you get aerial views of the park, watch primates and birds at the treetops and glance at the communities.

After all is done, return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and a peaceful nap.

Day 3: Depart to Kigali International Airport

After a rewarding time with the primates, you will start the morning with your last vacation breakfast meal, and thereafter checkout for a transfer to Kigali city for lunch and a city tour before proceeding to the airport for departure to mark the end of your chimpanzee trekking Rwanda safari experience.
