Detailed Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
The driver guide will pick you from Rwanda’s main entry point – Kigali airport and then drive you directly to the lodge where you will spend your night in the outskirts of Nyungwe forest.
While on your journey you will view the beauty of Rwanda since it is a “land of a thousand hills” hence awarding you with great views. Upon check in, have dinner and rest as you prepare for next day’s activity.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Check out from the lodge with your packed lunch and move for chimpanzee trekking. Meet a ranger guide, fully armed for protection because though these chimpanzees are habituated still they remain wild.
After having a briefing from the head guide, immediately start your walk while in search for chimpanzees.
Get a chance to view these great apes that share almost 98% of human DNA, all of their behaviors confirm that it’s true indeed they are our cousins. Enjoy your packed lunch after trekking and transfer to volcanoes national park in north western Rwanda.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Akagera National Park
Have breakfast as early as possible since this activity starts at 8:00am such that you can catch up with time. Drive from the lodge heading to headquarters and hand in your permit to the one responsible who will provide you with a ranger guide to take you through trekking of these endangered gorillas.
Spend some time in search for the gorilla family, and one hour in their presence. Start to trek back to the starting point and meet you driver guide, immediately transfer to next destination which is Akagera National Park.
Day 4: Boat cruise and evening game drive
Boat cruise is always an amazing and colorful activity that you can enjoy and make you forget everything that had spoiled your safari and brings back the smile on your face.
Spot different things while on this activity mostly the water animals, birds, water plants and many others without forgetting life of fishermen.
Do an afternoon / evening game drive and different wild animals will be spotted like elephants, Masai giraffes, rhinos, buffaloes, lions and numerous antelopes. Drive back to the lodge, enjoy your dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Depart back to Kigali city
After an early breakfast meet, have a talk with your driver guide on how your safari went as you prepare for departure back to Kigali. Lunch will be in the beautiful city of Kigali which is the smartest and cleanest in Africa. Thereafter be dropped at the airport.
