Detailed Primate Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Be picked from any agreed point in Kampala/Entebbe and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national Park in Western Uganda.
This will be the beginning of the safari where you will use Kampala Fort Portal highway, passing through the natural forests, have a stopover in Mubende for stretch and break.
Another stopover will be in Fort portal for lunch and this journey will reward you will beautiful scenery of the Rwenzori ranges, tea plantations and much more.
Arrive in the most visited national park in Uganda and immediately check in the accommodation site.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
The game drive will be beginning immediately after breakfast where you will explore parts of Kasenyi plains.
This activity will take about 2 to 3 hours but of great importance where you will spot wildlife such as elephants, Lions, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, Uganda kobs among others.
After lunch, proceed to explore the best of Kazinga channel on a rewarding boat cruise where you will enjoy hippos, crocodiles and many more.
This will also take about 2 to 3 hours hence worth it since you will also be including different birds including migratory ones.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Head to Bwindi national park the home of almost half of the remaining endangered mountain gorillas and you will pass through Ishasha sector.
This sector is known to have the tree climbing lions which can only be found in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania.
Arrive in the evening and check in the lodge booked.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Community Walk
You will join the rest of the team at the park offices in the morning where you will take part in the briefing exercise. You can also hire some potters that will help you to carry extra luggage.
Start the trek in the Forest and you will spot other wildlife, have an hour of face to face interaction with the gorillas and this will create memories.
Head back to the lodge and be served with hot lunch, in the evening, visit the Batwa Community at the edge of the forest where you will have a cultural experience through their vibrant music and dances.
Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Leave Uganda in the morning and head to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, also known to be a home of mountain endangered mountain gorillas and the rare golden monkeys.
Enjoy the countryside of Rwanda after crossing the border and check in the booked lodge in Ruhengeri.
Day 6: Golden monkey trekking
Head to the park offices where you will attend briefing exercise regarding golden monkey trekking adventure.
This will be all about the dos and don’ts to abide by while trekking, golden monkeys’ information and much more.
After, start the trek which will take about 2 to 4 hours but an hour will be spent in the presence of golden monkeys.
Watch them in the bamboo trees playing while jumping from one tree to another.
You will spot other Primates like olive baboons, white colobus monkeys, varvet monkeys and many more others. In the afternoon, you will have an option of a nature walk of any other activity.
Day 7: Transfer to Lake Kivu for beach experience
Transfer to Lake Kivu where you will have a great time on the shores of this beautiful lake that is share by two countries and these are Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
You will take a boat cruise where you can get to explore more of beautiful country. Chill and relax at the lodge which will be the best of the day.
Day 8: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Head to Nyungwe national park known for the 13 Primates including our close relatives, Chimpanzees.
This park is amazing and it will reward you with the best of chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk the next day.
This tropical rain-forest gives panoramic views, rewarding experience and beautiful scenery. Check in the lodge on your arrival.
Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking and optional canopy walk
Head for the last activity in the park on this great 10 Days Uganda & Rwanda Adventure Holiday for briefing and then penetrate the forest to start the search.
Chimpanzee tracking will expose you to the presence of Chimpanzees for an hour and then, you will be able to capture great photos.
You will also spot Primates such as varvet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many more.
In the afternoon, there is an optional activity of canopy walk adventure where you will enjoy an aerial view of Nyungwe forest, primates plus other bird species.
Day 10: Head to Kigali for city excursion and Departure
Head to Kigali for a city tour for a visit to places like the Kigali genocide memorial grounds, the former Palace museum, local markets, historical monuments, and more attractions.
After lunch, you will be dropped at the airport which will mark the end of your safari.
