Detailed 12-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Hotel Transfer (Nairobi)
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your safari guide will warmly welcome you to Kenya. You will be driven to your hotel in Nairobi for check-in, dinner, and relaxation as you prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, drive from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park, located along the Great Rift Valley about 160 kilometers away. On arrival, check in at your lodge for lunch and some rest. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive and spot animals such as rhinos, lions, giraffes, leopards, and antelopes, along with many birds, including flamingos. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Visit Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s most famous safari destination. Enjoy scenic views of the Great Rift Valley along the way and stop for lunch before arriving at your lodge. In the evening, take a short game drive to see wildlife before sunset. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 4: Full Day in Masai Mara
Spend the day exploring Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives. You will have the chance to see zebras, elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, rhinos, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. If you visit during the migration season, you can witness thousands of wildebeests crossing the Mara River. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Game Drive and Visit Masai Village
After breakfast, enjoy another game drive to spot animals you might have missed earlier. Later, visit a nearby Masai village to interact with the community and learn about their traditional dances, culture, and lifestyle. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive south to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, crossing through the Isebania border. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the way and an en-route game drive as you enter Serengeti. Arrive at your lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 7: Explore the Wonders of Serengeti
After breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. This park is known for its endless plains and rich wildlife, including wildebeests, lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, and zebras. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing your exploration. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.
Day 8: Drive to Ngorongoro Crater
Start your day early with breakfast and depart for Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s most remarkable natural wonders. Have a picnic lunch and descend to the crater floor for game viewing. Look out for lions, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and black rhinos. Later, drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: En-route Game Drive to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, leave Ngorongoro and enjoy an en-route game drive as you head to Tarangire National Park. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive where you can see elephants, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, leopards, and many bird species. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 10: Full Day in Tarangire with a Guide
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, baobab trees, and scenic plains. You will have plenty of time to spot wildlife and take photographs before returning to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 11: Drive to Arusha National Park
After breakfast, drive to Arusha National Park, which takes about 4–5 hours. On arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, go for a short game drive to see zebras, giraffes, buffalos, and monkeys. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 12: Walking Safari or Canoeing and Departure
After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking safari or canoeing experience in Arusha National Park, where you can spot wildlife up close and enjoy the scenery. Later, transfer to Arusha town or the airport for your onward journey or flight back home.
