Detailed 15-Day East Africa Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Road Trip to Kibale National Park
Your 15-day East African Tour begins with a briefing by your tour leader at 7:30 a.m. in Entebbe or Kampala. At 8:00 a.m., start your journey to Kibale National Park, which takes about 5–6 hours. Along the way, enjoy views of Matiri Forest, tea plantations, and the Rwenzori Mountain ranges near Fort Portal. Stop in Fort Portal for lunch, then continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk
After breakfast, head to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing on chimpanzee tracking. Your trek begins at 8:00 a.m. and lasts about 2–4 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are found. You will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat. Other primates you might see include red-tailed monkeys, baboons, l’hoest monkeys, and mangabeys.
After lunch, enjoy a guided walk through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you can see more monkeys, birds, and beautiful vegetation. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, drive southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes you past scenic crater lakes and Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you may spot tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. Enjoy a bush lunch before continuing to Bwindi for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules. The trek can take between 2–8 hours, depending on the gorilla family’s location. Once found, you will spend one hour watching the gorillas interact and feed. After lunch at the lodge, visit the Batwa community to learn about their forest traditions, music, and way of life. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Fly to Entebbe and Connect to Nairobi
After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your flight to Entebbe. From there, you will connect to Nairobi, Kenya, where your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel for rest and dinner.
Day 6: Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, about 6 hours from Nairobi. Along the way, enjoy views of the Great Rift Valley. On arrival, check in at your lodge for lunch and relax before going on an afternoon game drive to spot elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, and leopards. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 7: Full-Day Wildlife Tour in Masai Mara
Spend the day exploring the Masai Mara, famous for the Big Five and the Great Migration (seasonal). Look out for lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests. Take photos of the scenic plains and enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.
Day 8: Drive to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive across the Isebania border into Tanzania and continue to Serengeti National Park. Enjoy the changing landscapes along the way. After border clearance, proceed to your lodge for lunch and relax. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Full-Day Game Viewing in Serengeti
Spend the whole day exploring the Serengeti, one of Africa’s top wildlife parks. You will see elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, hyenas, rhinos, and possibly the wildebeest migration if visiting between June and October. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Visit Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most famous wildlife sites. Enjoy views of the crater rim and spot animals like lions, buffaloes, and zebras during a short game drive. Dinner and overnight at your lodge near the crater.
Day 11: Game Drive and Transfer to Arusha
After breakfast, take a morning game drive in Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You may spot black rhinos, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, and wildebeests. Later, drive to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Fly from Arusha to Zanzibar
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar. On arrival at Abeid Amani Karume Airport, your driver will take you to your hotel. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying ocean views.
Day 13–14: Zanzibar Beach Experience
Spend two days relaxing on Zanzibar’s white sand beaches. You can enjoy optional activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, spice tours, or dhow cruises. These days are all about rest and enjoyment at your leisure. Dinner and overnight at the beach hotel.
Day 15: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your flight home or to your next destination. This marks the end of your 15-Day East Africa Safari.
