Day 1: Pick Up and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On the first day of your 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Bwindi Tour, your driver-guide will pick you up from the airport or hotel after breakfast and begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The drive takes about 8 to 9 hours depending on road conditions.
Make your first stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe for photography and souvenir shopping, then continue to Mbarara for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre, where you can also visit the small museum to learn about the Banyankole people.
Proceed with your journey through the scenic Kigezi Highlands and arrive in Bwindi in the evening. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and guidelines. You will be assigned to a specific gorilla family and guided into the forest to begin your trek.
The trek may take between 2 and 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, but once you find them, you will spend one hour observing and photographing them as they interact in their natural environment.
This moment of being close to these gentle giants is one of the most memorable experiences Uganda has to offer. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax, have dinner, and rest.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek and Visit to the Batwa Community
After breakfast, return to the park headquarters for your second gorilla trekking experience. This time you will visit a different gorilla family, allowing you to observe another group’s unique behaviors and interactions.
After lunch, visit the Batwa community near the park. You will learn about their traditional forest life, see their local dances, and hear stories of how they once lived as hunters and gatherers in the forest. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Return to Kampala or Entebbe
After an early breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala. Stop at Kayabwe for another Equator photo session, enjoy lunch along the way, and proceed to Entebbe for your return flight.
