Detailed 3-Day Uganda Chimpanzee Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala or Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park

On the first morning of your 3 Days Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Kibale, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast.

The journey to Kibale Forest National Park takes about five to six hours and offers beautiful views of the countryside. You will drive through the Kampala–Mityana–Fort Portal route, passing vast tea plantations and scenic landscapes.

There will be stopovers at places of interest, such as the historical Nakayima Tree in Mubende, for photos and short breaks along the way.

Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the rules and guidelines for chimpanzee trekking.

You will then enter the forest with your ranger guide to search for chimpanzees. While trekking, you may encounter other primates such as blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Forest elephants can also sometimes be seen.

When you find the chimpanzees, you will spend one hour observing them as they eat, play, and interact. It is a special and memorable experience.

In the afternoon, after lunch, you will take a guided walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This nature walk brings you closer to different bird species, primates, and interesting plant life. It is a peaceful and relaxing activity to end the day.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, enjoy the view of Fort Portal’s conical hills and the green canopy of Kibale Forest. Depending on your schedule, you may take an optional community visit to the Isunga area or a short hike to the “Top of the World,” where you can see the crater lakes and tea plantations stretching across the region.
