Day 1: Pick up from Kigali, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and cycling tour

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our guide will welcome you and brief you about the trip. You will then travel to Lake Bunyonyi, about 108 kilometers from Kigali, a journey that takes around 2 to 3 hours. There will be a short stop at the Katuna border for immigration procedures before continuing to Kabale for lunch. On arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you will check in to your booked accommodation.

In the afternoon, you will go on a cycling tour through nearby villages. This activity gives you a chance to see birds, small animals like antelopes, and enjoy views of the lake and its islands. You can take photos and interact with local people to learn about their daily lives. Afterward, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Boat ride and nature walk on the Island

After breakfast, head out for a motorboat ride on Lake Bunyonyi. You will explore some of the 29 islands up close, including the famous “Punishment Island.” Enjoy the lake views, spot different bird species, and take photos. You will also land on one of the islands for a nature walk.

During the walk, you will meet local residents and learn about their traditions and beliefs. You might also see some wild animals such as antelopes and zebras. After the activity, return by boat to your lodge for lunch. Later, you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, about 105 kilometers away (around 4 hours by road). On arrival, check in at your lodge, relax, have dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and return to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast and check out. You will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing by the ranger. You will receive instructions on how to behave while trekking and watching gorillas. Accompanied by guides and armed rangers, you will walk through the forest in search of a specific gorilla family. Once found, you will spend an hour observing and photographing them before returning to the starting point.

During the trek, you may also see other primates such as olive baboons, vervet monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Occasionally, you might encounter larger animals like elephants or buffaloes. After the trek, your guide will drive you back to Kigali, about 164 kilometers away. You will arrive in the city and be dropped off at the airport, marking the end of your 3-day Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi tour from Kigali.
