This 5 Days Rwanda Primates Safari with Chimpanzees & Gorillas provides travelers with unmatched experiences of viewing different primates in Rwanda – the “land of thousand hills”.
Visit two popular national parks – Nyungwe national Park for chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk as well as Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking, then head to Kigali for city tour and call it end of the tour.

Detailed 5 Days Rwanda Primate Trekking Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from the airport and transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Be picked up by our dedicated driver guide from the airport and stop at a local restaurant for snacks and coffee as you receive briefing from the tour guide. ‘
After this, drive southwards to Nyungwe and head to the booked lodge for check in and overnight stay. You may also have several stop overs at different amazing places for photos, scenic views and the community craft shops to buy souvenirs.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Have your breakfast as early as possible, then meet your driver and head to the starting point in Nyungwe national Park. Meet a ranger guide who will take you through the entire trekking session and will be able to interpret and answer all questions.
After getting a chance and trek one group only one hour is allowed to be spent while in presence of chimpanzees. There after drive back to the lodge for lunch and do canopy walk in the afternoon which will also be more colorful.
Day 3: Transfer from Nyungwe to Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early in the morning for breakfast with a cup of tea or coffee depending on your choice. Take your time and pack everything that belongs to you and transfer to volcanoes national Park which is located in the north-west province of Rwanda.
Volcanoes National Park is located roughly 260Km from Nyungwe and the journey passes through Ruhengeri-Gisenyi areas, taking about 5 to 6 hours depending on speed and interest during the drive.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking
Have breakfast early morning, drive and meet the ranger guide at the starting point as they take you through the briefing exercise and later set off for the trek.
Meet these great apes with whom we share 96% of human DNA and observe their behaviors; how they eat, take care of their offspring, communicate and play with the help and interpretation of a ranger guide. After trekking and coming in contact with a family of gorilla, only one hour is required to be spent with them.
Day 5: Optional city tour around Kigali and be dropped at the airport
This 5th day will make the end of your safari, but before it ends, you will depart Volcanoes National Park smartly with your driver guide and head to the city of Rwanda (Kigali). Have a stopover at the hotel for snacks and an optional short city tour.
Visit prominent historical and cultural sites and get a chance to know the history of the country Rwanda. There after meet your driver guide who will drop you at the airport and fly back home.
