Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Meet your professional driver-guide who will brief you and check your travel documents. Afterward, begin the journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
On the way, stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center to learn about Rwanda’s 1994 history. Have lunch en route and continue the scenic drive past Rwanda’s green hills and rural homesteads.
Arrive at Nyungwe National Park, check in at your lodge, and relax. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
After breakfast, drive to the Nyungwe Information Centre for a short briefing with the park ranger guides. You will be told about trekking rules and safety tips before starting your chimpanzee trekking adventure.
The activity takes about 2 to 5 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees. Along the way, you may also see other primates such as red-tailed monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Once you find the chimpanzees, spend one hour observing and photographing them as they play and feed in the forest.
