Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most visited destinations in the country. It lies in northern Tanzania and is home to a wide range of wildlife. The crater is one of the largest land calderas in the world and provides a natural home for many predators and prey. It also plays a part in the annual wildebeest migration.
Lake Eyasi is well known for its large numbers of flamingos and white pelicans. It is also home to the Hadzabe Bushmen, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes in East Africa. During this safari, you will enjoy game drives, cultural tours, guided nature walks, and photography.
This road trip starts and ends in Arusha, with scenic views of plantations, traditional homesteads, and cool weather along the way.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Ngorongoro Crater – Sunset game drive
On arrival, meet your driver guide at the airport for a short briefing about your safari. Afterward, start your journey to Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying views of plantations, hills, and small villages along the way.
Ngorongoro is one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations and a true natural wonder. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes.
You will arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, check in, relax, and have lunch. Later, head out for an evening game drive, where you may spot zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, cheetahs, and other animals as they prepare to rest for the night.
After the game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drive and transfer to Lake Eyasi
Wake up early for a morning game drive around the savannah plains of the crater. This 3–4-hour drive gives you a chance to watch predators returning to their hiding spots and grazers moving out to feed.
Animals you may encounter include lions, hippos, rhinos, elephants, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, impalas, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs. You will also see many bird species such as flamingos, ostriches, egrets, vultures, and kori bustards.
After breakfast in the wild, return to the lodge to refresh and check out. You will then begin your journey to Lake Eyasi with an exit game drive along the way.
After a 2–3-hour scenic drive, you will arrive at Lake Eyasi, home to the Hadzabe Bushmen. Check in at your lodge, have lunch, and relax. In the evening, visit the Datoga tribe to learn about their traditions through storytelling, village walks, and songs. The Datoga are an indigenous community that once lived as hunters and fruit gatherers.
Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Departure
After an early breakfast, enjoy a 2-hour guided walk along the shores of Lake Eyasi. The lake is the largest water body in the Arusha region and is found in the Karatu district of northern Tanzania.
During the walk, your ranger guide will point out different bird species such as flamingos and pelicans, as well as local plants and wildlife found near the lake.
Return to your lodge for breakfast, check out, and then drive back to Arusha. Your guide will bid you farewell at the end of your safari. End of Safari.
