Detailed 4-Day Mount Kenya Hiking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Sirimon Gate and Hike to Old Moses Camp
You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi and transferred to Sirimon Gate on Mount Kenya, a journey of about 4 hours through Nanyuki town. On arrival, complete registration, meet your guide and porters, and prepare your gear for the hike.
Begin trekking through the forest zone filled with birds and animals such as vervet monkeys and duikers. Continue hiking until you reach Old Moses Camp at 3,300 meters, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2: Hike to Shipton’s Hut
After breakfast, continue uphill and cross the Ontulili River as you move into the moorland zone. Enjoy views of Mackinder’s Valley and take photos during short breaks along the way. The hike will take about 6 to 7 hours with time for a picnic lunch and rest stops. Arrive at Shipton’s Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Hike to Point Lenana and Descend to Old Moses Camp
Wake up around 3:00 a.m. and start your final ascent toward Point Lenana, reaching the summit around 6:30 a.m. Enjoy the sunrise and take photos before beginning your descent.
Return to Shipton’s Hut for lunch, then continue descending to Old Moses Camp, where you will have dinner and spend your last night on the mountain.
