This 3-day Mkomazi National Park Safari takes you to the southern edge of the Sahel zone in Tanzania, known for its ancient baobab trees, rocky hills, and grey-green Nyika bush. Mkomazi National Park lies in one of the driest parts of Tanzania, rich with unique plants and wildlife. It is located in the northern region, near the Lushoto district and Mount Kilimanjaro area.
More than 1,500 plant species found here cannot be found anywhere else in Tanzania. The park was first declared a national reserve in 1951 and later upgraded to national park status in 2006. It is managed by the Tanzania National Parks Authority.
Mkomazi is home to giraffes, hartebeests, impalas, lions, leopards, elands, and oryx, among others. During this trip, you will enjoy game drives, photography, and guided nature walks. You will stay in comfortable accommodation with delicious meals and timely transfers. The safari starts and ends in Arusha, Tanzania.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Mkomazi National Park
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by our company driver guide who will welcome you to Tanzania and brief you about the 3-day safari. Afterward, you may exchange money or do some quick shopping in town before starting your scenic drive to Mkomazi.
Enjoy the views of the countryside, small villages, farms, and busy local markets along the way. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in, have dinner, and relax in the garden or on the balcony as you unwind from the day’s journey. Spend the night at your lodge.
Day 2: Game Drive
After breakfast, set out for a 3–4-hour morning game drive across the open savannah. Led by an experienced ranger guide, you will explore the park’s trails and enjoy wide views of the plains and blue skies.
Look out for wildlife such as lions, leopards, giraffes, hartebeests, impalas, gazelles, and oryx. Your ranger guide will share interesting information about the animals, birds, and plants you come across.
After the morning game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and some rest. In the late afternoon, go for another game drive to spot more animals, birds, and reptiles that you might have missed earlier.
As night falls, you may spot nocturnal animals like hyenas moving through the park. Return to your lodge for dinner and a good night’s sleep.
Day 3: Departure
After an early breakfast, enjoy a guided nature walk around the park. This morning walk offers a chance to stretch your legs and observe different plant species, birds, and scenic views.
After the walk, return to your lodge to refresh and check out. You will then drive back to Arusha, marking the end of your safari. End of Safari.
