Detailed 4-Day Tanzania Gombe Chimpanzee Trek Adventure Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Gombe National Park
Your tour driver will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or Dar es Salaam and transfer you to the airport for a domestic flight to Kigoma airfield.
Upon arrival, you will be met and taken for a short visit to the Dr. David Livingstone Memorial Center in Ujiji Village. Afterward, your driver will take you to Kibirizi Port to board a boat to Gombe National Park.
The boat ride offers beautiful views of Lake Tanganyika and its peaceful surroundings.
When you arrive in Gombe, check in at your lodge or banda, have lunch, and then take a short hike in the forest. If you prefer, you can spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the lake. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your accommodation.
Day 2–3: Chimpanzee Trekking – Gombe National Park
For the next two days, you will spend your time trekking through the forests and valleys of Gombe National Park in search of the eastern chimpanzees. These two days will allow you to observe the chimpanzees as they play, feed, and interact in their natural environment.
Along the way, you may also spot other primates such as vervet monkeys and colobus monkeys, as well as various bird species.
Additional activities include hiking to Jane’s Peak for great views of the park and visiting the beautiful Kakombe Waterfalls.
After your activities on day 3, check out of your lodge and take a 2-hour boat ride back to Kigoma. Your driver will pick you up from the port and take you to your hotel in Kigoma for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: End of Safari – Departure
After breakfast, your driver will transfer you to Kigoma airfield for your flight back to Arusha or Dar es Salaam.
From there, you will connect to your international flight or continue to your next destination, marking the end of your 4-Day Gombe National Park Chimpanzee Trekking Safari.
