This 15-day Uganda safari offers an amazing experience that combines wildlife, primates, and cultural encounters. Detailed 15-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport and City Tour

On arrival at Entebbe Airport, your driver-guide will welcome you and brief you about your 15-day safari. If time allows, enjoy a short city tour to visit the Kabaka’s Palace and local markets such as Owino before heading to your hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, drive to Murchison Falls National Park in northwestern Uganda, home to the “Big Four”: lions, elephants, leopards, and buffaloes, and the world’s strongest waterfall.

Stop at Luwero town, known for its role in Uganda’s liberation war, then continue to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. Have lunch before proceeding to Murchison Falls for dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the northern section of the park. Look out for lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and various bird species.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls. You will see hippos, crocodiles, and many water birds before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park with a Stop in Fort Portal

After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours through scenic landscapes filled with tea and banana plantations.

Stop in Fort Portal for lunch. If time allows, visit the crater lakes, Amabere caves, and Nyakasura Falls before continuing to your lodge near Kibale for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale and Bigodi Swamp Walk

After breakfast, head to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee trekking adventure. The trek takes about 2 to 4 hours and includes one hour of observing and photographing the chimpanzees.

You may also see red-tailed monkeys, baboons, colobus monkeys, and many birds and butterflies. After lunch, visit Bigodi Wetland for a guided walk to see more primates and birds such as the great blue turaco. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Boat Cruise

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, about 3 hours away. Along the way, enjoy beautiful views of crater lakes and the Rwenzori Mountains.

Arrive in time for lunch, then take an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of birds. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game Drive and Transfer to Ishasha Sector

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive along the Kasenyi track. Expect to see elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and antelopes. Return to your lodge for lunch, then drive to the Ishasha sector to search for the famous tree-climbing lions. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas. The park also has elephants and other mammals. Arrive in the evening, check in, have dinner, and rest.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit

After breakfast, go to the park offices for a briefing before starting your gorilla trek. You will be assigned to a gorilla group and guided through the forest. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are found.

Spend one hour observing and taking photos before returning for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community to learn about their culture, music, and way of life. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi and Canoe Ride

After breakfast, drive to Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa, surrounded by 29 small islands. On arrival, take a canoe ride to explore some of the islands and enjoy birdwatching. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Explore the Islands of Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, take another canoe ride to visit more islands on Lake Bunyonyi. Visit Punishment Island and learn its history while spotting birds around the lake. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at your lodge.

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Boat Cruise

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Stop in Mbarara for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre, where you can also learn about the Ankole culture. Continue to the park for check-in and take an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo to see hippos, crocodiles, and birds.

Day 13: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Jinja via Kampala

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive to see zebras, impalas, topis, elands, leopards, and other animals. Then drive back toward Kampala, stopping at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe for photos and souvenirs. Continue through Kampala to Jinja for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Jinja – White Water Rafting on the Nile

After breakfast, enjoy half a day of white-water rafting on the River Nile. You can also choose optional activities such as bungee jumping, kayaking, or a boat ride to the Source of the Nile. Spend the night in Jinja and enjoy the peaceful sound of the river.

Day 15: Transfer Back to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, marking the end of your 15-day Uganda safari.
