Detailed 5-Day Bwindi Triple Gorilla Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to the Hotel
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport for your 5 Days Bwindi Triple Gorilla Trek, our professional guide will warmly welcome you to the Pearl of Africa and brief you about the trip. You will then drive along a smooth road with beautiful views of Lake Victoria and the surrounding countryside until you reach Kampala, Uganda’s capital city.
Check in at your hotel for refreshments and lunch. Later in the afternoon, go for a short city tour to visit the Uganda Museum and local craft shops for souvenirs. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, check out and start an 8 to 9-hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Although the drive is long, it is rewarding with scenic countryside views and fruit markets along the way.
Make a stop at the Equator for photos and lunch before continuing through Mbarara and Kabale towns. Since your gorilla trekking will take place in the Buhoma Sector, you will check in at a lodge in that area for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Buhoma Sector
After breakfast, drive to the Buhoma sector headquarters for registration and a pre-trekking briefing. Park rangers will explain the rules and guidelines for gorilla trekking before leading you into the forest.
The trek is not too difficult, and within 1 to 4 hours, you are likely to find the gorilla family. You will then spend one full hour watching them interact, feed, and play while learning about their behaviors.
In the afternoon, visit Buhoma Hospital, which supports the local community, and later enjoy a mountain biking experience before heading to the Ruhija Sector for the night.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Encounter in Ruhija Sector
After breakfast, go to the Ruhija ranger station for a short briefing and document check before beginning your trek. Ruhija has four gorilla families and offers a wonderful trekking experience that is not very difficult.
As you move through the forest, you may spot several bird species and other primates. Once you locate the gorillas, you will spend one hour observing and taking photos.
Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, visit the Batwa community to learn about their traditional lifestyle as hunters and gatherers and enjoy their lively songs and dances.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Rushaga Sector and Departure through Kigali
After an early breakfast, head to the Rushaga sector for your final gorilla trekking experience. Attend the pre-trekking briefing at 8:30 am before entering the forest with the rangers.
The trek can take between 1 and 7 hours depending on how far the gorillas have moved. Once you find them, spend an hour observing their behavior and taking photos.
After trekking, have a picnic lunch before starting your journey to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
